Sunday with Great Grandma

My mother told me when she was growing up everyone went to their various churches on Sunday morning then from their farms, from all around, meet at her Grandmother’s place. They’d eat a big meal then spend the day linking arms at bent elbows, crossing arms in front of them in an “X” each holding an others hand, or wrapping arms around each others waists, or shoulders and they’d walk up and down the hills of Great Grandmother’s farm in twos, threes, even up to twelve or fourteen,in these lines of family. Little Grandma, as I called her, didn’t allow loud laughing, running or wrestling or singing, other than hymns,on Sundays. My Mom loved Sundays with her cousins aunts and uncles.
I’m the forth generation and recently heard on public radio about a scientific study proving people are happier and healthier if they habitually lie.
I don’t believe it. We’re happier if we live in families and keep the commandments.   nancymauerman.com
