Who Needs Faith?

I’ve wondered for years why we NEED faith. The quick answer, of course, is that as mortals we don’t see our Father and His Son face to face and so we need faith that they even exist. Without faith in them we limit their access and their influence in our lives limiting our joy and direction. I know I’ve done it both ways without faith my existence had been flat.

But we are to be like God and His Son as much as we can. This implies to me that my maker has a superb case of faith Himself. Why does God need faith? I think I’ve found one facet of the answer.

Faith is the same thing as love and joy, intuition and creativity. Faith is when Father exhales love, when He sends out help. He inhales joy as he sees the results of His labors. When God creates He’s intuitive and definitely creative giving Adam and Eve and us variety and beauty as in the Moose spit I talked about in my blog on September 2014 . The more we learn through the sciences the more we see the intricate weave of love and faith we’re a part of. The more faith we have the more eternal truths, direction, and beauty saturate our creations like Handel’s Messiah, the Narnia series by C. S. Lewis and The Hobbit by his friend  J. R. R. Tolkien.  nancymauerman.com

Is My House Too Big For Me?

Big Daddy has a small house. Some people would think my house is small because they have three garages a pool and six bed rooms. Some people would think my house is big because they live with six family members in a cardboard hut.  I  think of mine is big  because I have two rooms with beds, half of one filled with fabric, a room for plants, and another, floor to ceiling, full of books.

The biggest part of my house is my living room: no big stuffed chairs, no couch, just tables to work on and a few chairs but mostly empty floor space. I’ve discovered with my children that they will never play if too many toys filled their space. The same goes for my cats. The same goes for me.

I wonder if perhaps cultures where houses are big enough to have empty space are the cultures that CREATE new ideas. But then perhaps my friends would say my house is too big for me when they see the weird quilts I sew, the strange pictures I paint and the “unique” children’s books I write and illustrate.   nancymauerman.com

Moose Slobber and Tesla

S.N., Science News Magazine agrees with me. We create legislation around non- proven theories and speculation then fund confirmations, most of it politically correct  . The August issue has a wonderful article about moose spit, probably not funded. A moose slobbers over grass killing a fungi that causes alkaloid toxins and Moose spit left on half eaten branches stimulated regrowth; more meals.

Here’s where speculation comes in. When I’m in bed Tesla my cat stands beside my head. While I pet him he kneads my pillow like he did as a kitten to get milk from his Momma. As Tesla purrs he slobbers; he could fill a bucket by the time he’s done.

My theory: Tesla is either trying to get milk from a pillow or working toward growing two more arms from my shoulders to pet him with. I’m hoping for funding.   nancymauerman.com
