Monster John and Cotton Rounds

John’s the monster of cotton rounds. Weeks ago he bought fifteen packages of the flat cotton pads and put them away every place he looks when he can’t find them. They were put away scattered all over the house.

This week he couldn’t remember where those fifteen places were so he went to the store to buy more. He brought home sixteen packages and squirreled away the fifteen extra ones in places he’d just searched. But then he had a monstrous idea for next time. He went back to the store and brought home fifteen more. He put these in places he’d never think to look.

You would think he’d feel secure but no. He’s applied the fifteen plus fifteen brilliance to too many other things to be assured a cotton round when the currant package is empty.  nancymauerman.com

Head Talk

I’m in the habit of thinking of myself first when I speak. I’m the most interesting person I know and everyone else should know all about me too.

When others talk, the things they say remind me of ME so I only half listen. The mantra, “Hurry up and stop talking so I can tell you about me,” runs through my head.

You would think with all this interest in myself I’d be terribly fascinated in applying all my efforts to self improvement and I’d be extremely anxious to repent.

But if only half of an idea along those lines comes to mind I THINK OF OTHERS. “It’s his fault.” or “They had a devastating effect on my life. I should be excused.”

But luckily two men have had a good influence on me. Jesus Christ would have me reverse order of the interests and my husband, John, who also loves me, He gives me the strength to try to live up to Godly goals.  nancymauerman.com

John’s Quick Shopping Technique

John found a very quick way to shop. He left with a long list segregated into four different stops.  He left at eleven and returned at eleven twenty!

“Are you done? How can you have finished so soon?”  I asked.

“Well my secret is this; as soon as all my groceries were in their bags I found out I’d left my wallet at home.”

“I didn’t know what I said until I said it!” John told me after explaining his dream to me. The dream made no sense until he verbalized it.

Negative self labeling is powerful whether it’s a generic, “I’m a bad boy,” or more a specific,”I’m not good at spelling.” As soon as we say something like this we start living down to it. Of course we find evidence and confirmed the diagnosis because we’re in the frame of mind to find faults and then we slide down a few more steps.  Why not use a good self label and say, “I find spelling interesting. I’m learning a LOT.”

Self labeling is powerful and verbalizing it gives it great strength. For many years I discussed ethics with teens. I’d set up a dilemma and ask their opinion knowing that like John if they talked out loud they would discover truths as well as PIECING TOGETHER HALF IDEAS and teach us all wisdom. They were terrified of verbalizing therefore labeling themselves to themselves as well as the others. Then I learned to say, “Whatever you say now you can change at any time as you think things out.” It was a relief!

Potato Chips A Percussion Instrument

It’s a known fact: air in water makes it tastes better. So a friend of mine is determined food  tastes better with extra air too. “Chew with your mouth open,” to enhance the subtle mix of your culinary masterpieces and to multiply the associated aroma joys.

Good food is like a silent symphony. Add percussion by eating potato chips with your mouth open, configuring your lips in different shapes to vary the sound while crunching.  Every time my musical friend visits with his expansive presence, table manners, and imagination he enlarges our small house and our minds.  nancymauerman.com

Daddy Needs A Pacifier

Thirty had been the ideal.  All children wanted to be that age. Not long ago fashion models might have been thirteen but they were made up to look older and everyone over thirty two wished downwards. Mid-life crises caused old men to buy fast cars to try to relive thirty, to hang on, and to extend thirty.

Now the commercials for cars advertise to four to seven year- olds!  Five years old is the new ideal!

Fathers drive then turn in their seats to get the toddler’s approval, or the five year old drives the new car. Toys made for four to eight year olds are featured inside the new cars. In car commercials the camera focuses on a beaming new car owner who is five year old!

Plus the federal government considers everyone under twenty seven to be a child and to be taken care of by Mommy and Daddy.  If I were you I’d buy stocks in pacifiers.nancymauerman.com

Don’t Take My Kids

Worshiping the devil and paganism are on the rise. These two concepts have existed in every time in history and in every place. They very often promote and thrive on child killings with the excuse that this is to ensure the good of the community.

Many people in my country today say parents aren’t responsible for raising their own children. in fact they don’t own their own children. The federal government owns our children because children benefit the collective.

Eminate domain is being defined broader all the time. Things are taken away from individuals to be used to benefit the collective.  nancymauerman.com

Can China Hack Your Cell Phone?

John’s decided cell phones will soon be obsolete. Your friend will sit at his key board and plunk out a thought and it will go directly into your BRAIN.

But what about hackers?  Think about this; you’re making a presentation to prospective business partners and you get hacked. Suddenly you’re espousing a completely unrelated hair removal product, word for word, including sound affects you never knew you could make, then you hum the jingle and resume your original presentation. And oh my, think of the E mails!  nancymauerman.com

Are You Preparing For The Olymics

When my children were small and I spent every waking minute with them I knew each so well that I would know exactly how they would react to a situation. I knew what they’d say or if they misspoke I know what set of circumstances had distracted them. I knew when they got in trouble and how long it would take for them to own up to it.

I’ve heard my friends say the Lord tests them. I think the Lord already knows. The idea, ‘to be tested’ is so we know how we’re doing as if we’re studying for the Olympics.  nancymauerman.com
